Questions
Do I need to know anything about crypto to use the card?
No. The card is a normal Visa debit card. You spend as usual, and the card fees stores already pay fund the cause.
Is it a credit card?
No. It is a debit card (the EAT Per-Diem Card). You spend what you load, by ACH transfer from a linked U.S. bank account.
Is the card available now?
Yes. The EAT: Card app went live on the Apple App Store on July 16, 2026, and is also on Google Play. eat.ong/card says the app is available in the US and Canada; everywhere else, you log in on desktop to manage the card. Download it from eat.ong/app and apply for membership in the app. Some parts of eat.ong/card still mention a waitlist and an older launch date; the app store listings are current.
How does spending fund meals?
EAT says stores fund meals on every purchase, so you pay nothing extra: every transaction "helps fund hunger and hunger awareness." How much of card spending reaches hunger relief is unconfirmed. WYDE's EAT Card announcement (July 17, 2026) says 2% of every swipe funds the cause; its EAT Clippers announcement (July 31, 2026) says up to 2% of settled card spending fills a clipper pool. EAT has not published the split, or which grants it pays for. (The hunger-relief share of $EAT trading fees goes half to Feed the Children and half to a community pool; see Ending hunger.)
How do rewards work?
eat.ong/card lists cash back at EAT restaurants (paid by the restaurant), referral rewards from $16 to $640 by tier, and "2x rewards on every purchase" for the first 10,000 founding members. Card spending also helps fill the $1M Clipping Fund, which pays clippers per verified view. There is no fixed or guaranteed reward amount for sharing or driving sign-ups. Rewards are compensation for taking part, not an investment return. See Rewards and bounties.
Are my deposits safe?
Funds are held at i3 Bank, Member FDIC. Deposits qualify for up to $3,000,000 in FDIC insurance through the i3 Bank deposit sweep program ($250,000 per program bank, including other deposits you hold at the same bank in the same ownership capacity).
What does it cost?
eat.ong/card states no contracts, no fees to cancel, and the app listing says purchases cost exactly what they would on any other card. Monthly, ATM and other fees are not listed on the pages above, so check the Visa Cardholder Agreement you receive at issuance.
Where can I use the card?
It is a Visa debit card intended for medical, travel, retail, food and beverage, education and training purchases. It may not be used for crypto or digital-asset purchases, gambling or betting, financial services, adult services, or beauty and massage services, and Crowded can restrict other categories. Purchases in restricted categories may be declined.
Is there a version for businesses?
Yes, the EAT Card for Business opened in beta in June 2026. Ask at eat.ong/card.
Where do I get help?
Email card@eat.ong (EAT's card support address). Never enter card or wallet details on a link sent to you by a stranger, and only download the app from the links on eat.ong/app. See Staying safe.

Where WYDE’s own sources differ or have not said. Each stays marked on this page until WYDE publishes one answer.

- “2% of every swipe funds the cause”, from the card fees merchants already pay. (WYDE’s EAT Card announcement, 17 July 2026)

The EAT Card is a Visa debit card (not credit) that funds the hunger cause from the card fees stores already pay. It is designed so anyone can take part with no crypto knowledge required.

Status
- Live. The EAT: Card app went live on the Apple App Store on July 16, 2026, and is also on Google Play.
- Where: eat.ong/card says the app "is available in the US and Canada today. Everywhere else, log in on desktop to manage your card."
- How to join: download the app and apply for membership in it. You must be 18 or older.
How it's built
- Card: the EAT Per-Diem Card, a Visa debit card. Its binding contract is the Visa Cardholder Agreement you receive at issuance (eat.ong/legal).
- Program: eat.ong/card says it is "issued through the WYDE Foundation member program, in partnership with Crowded," a fintech platform that serves nonprofits and runs payment processing, fraud protection and card management.
- Money: "Funds held at i3 Bank, Member FDIC." Deposits qualify for up to $3,000,000 in FDIC insurance through the i3 Bank deposit sweep program ($250,000 per program bank, including other deposits you hold at the same bank in the same ownership capacity).
- Loading: you add money by a standard ACH transfer from a linked U.S. bank account; the app listing says that is the only way funds are loaded.
WYDE calls the model "contributory consumption": routine spending becomes a continuous funding stream for the cause, instead of leaning on one-off donation drives.
How your spending helps
- It costs you nothing extra. In EAT's words: "Spend like always. Stores fund meals on every purchase, not you." The app listing adds that purchases cost exactly what they would on any other card.
- It funds the cause. EAT says every transaction "helps fund hunger and hunger awareness": meals, and paid clipping that spreads the cause through the $1M Clipping Fund.
- No crypto required. Spend like a normal debit card.
Where you can use it
Per eat.ong/legal, the card is intended for purchases in medical, travel, retail, food and beverage, education and training. It may not be used for cryptocurrency or digital-asset purchases, gambling or betting, financial services (money transfer, securities, loans), adult services, beauty or massage services, or any other category Crowded deems incompatible with the program. Transactions in restricted categories may be declined, and repeated attempts can lead to suspension or closure of the card.
Rewards
eat.ong/card lists these, subject to program terms:
- Cash back at EAT restaurants, paid by the restaurant (for example, 15% back on a first visit and 5% after at one listed restaurant).
- Referral rewards: $16 for 5+ referrals, $48 for 15+, $160 for 45+, and $640 for 135+.
- Founding members: the first 10,000 members get "2x rewards on every purchase." eat.ong/card showed 7,153 of 10,000 founding spots claimed on 5 November 2026.
