Video: 501(c)(3) vs 501(c)(4): Introducing The WYDE Foundation

    ·Watch on YouTube

What's the difference between a 501(c)(3) and a 501(c)(4), and why would one organization want both? The most trusted membership organizations in America already do exactly this. AARP is a 501(c)(4) that advocates for older Americans, and it runs a separate 501(c)(3), the AARP Foundation, as its charitable arm. Each does what the other legally can't, and together they capture the benefit of both. Today, WYDE adopts the same proven structure with the launch of the WYDE Foundation. Here's the simple version. A 501(c)(4) can pursue a broad mission and advocate freely, but gifts to it generally aren't tax-deductible. A 501(c)(3) is a charity: it can run charitable programs and receive grants from major foundations and corporate giving programs that, by law, usually only flow to a charity. WYDE Association is the 501(c)(4) that carries the mission. The new WYDE Foundation is the 501(c)(3) charitable arm. Two arms, one mission: ending hunger. This opens an entirely new lane of support, the philanthropic and institutional world, to join the work. It works alongside WYDE Association, the 501(c)(4) that carries the broader mission, mirroring the proven dual-structure used by trusted organizations like AARP and its AARP Foundation. AARP is referenced only as a well-known example of this structure; WYDE is independent and not affiliated with or endorsed by AARP. WYDE is a movement and nonprofit building new infrastructure for funding causes, starting with hunger. WYDE Association is a Wyoming Decentralized Unincorporated Nonprofit Association (DUNA) with 501(c)(4) status, and it operates the Impact Exchange, turning everyday activity into charitable grants for verified hunger-relief organizations, all publicly verifiable.
