Video: What Is a Food Bank? (How They Actually Work)

    ·Watch on YouTube

Most people have heard of food banks. Way fewer know how they actually work. A food bank is the engine room of hunger relief. It's a large hub, often a huge warehouse, that collects, stores, and distributes food at scale. The food comes from grocers, farms, and manufacturers, plus community drives, often perfectly good food that would otherwise go to waste. Here's the part most people miss: a food bank usually doesn't hand food directly to you. It supplies the front line, the local food pantries, soup kitchens, school programs, and mobile distributions, and those give food directly to people in the community. One food bank can feed an entire region. So the chain runs: donated food, to the food bank, to local programs, to families. It's a system built to close a painful gap, tons of good food going to waste while neighbors go hungry. And it's the real-world system that hunger missions help fund. $EAT, for ending hunger, is a community working to do exactly that, and food banks can get support and visibility through the Hunger Network. ▶ See how food banks get supported: https://eat.ong/network ▶ Watch next: "What Is Feeding America?" + "What Is Feed the Children?" This video is an educational explainer about how food banks work. WYDE is the Impact Exchange where causes go public; $EAT is the first cause on it, working to end hunger, and food banks can claim a listing and get support through the Hunger Network. $EAT is a governance token and a mission, not an investment.
